Lady, I'm A Peaceful Man - Pictures EP

About a year and a half ago my old band played a show
with these guys, and within the first song and a half that they
played, I decided that I needed their cd. They totally blew me away.
Lady, I'm a Peaceful Man plays a math-y technical brand of chaotic
hardcore/metalcore in the vein of Dillinger Escape Plan,
but unfortunately they kinda fell apart a while back. Anyway, this ep is well
worth checking out.

Tragedy & Totalitar Split 7"

Sorry I haven't updated in a while, if anybody is even
paying enough attention to notice.. Just been busy, but
I recently got some new stuff I'll throw your way, so keep an
eye out for that.
..anyway..
I ripped this onto my computer like a month and a half ago
along with the Merkit/Ressurectionists 7", which I will
put up soon, and the Protestant 7" I posted last month.
Well, here it is, two bands that play a similar style of
Crust/hardcore, and apparently the Totalitar side was recorded
like 15 years ago and just sat there until 2003 when this was released.
Kinda ironic how just a procastinated release was so procrastinated on
being posted.... but whatever, its cool, so..

Protestant - Antagonist 7"

Killer 7" here from the Milwaukee crusty-hardcore
band Protestant. The first two songs rip through
with their usual, but great, brand of hardcore,
but the b-side (3rd track) slows it down slightly, but still
totally kills. You want to hear this, and if you haven't already
get their full length also here!

Iron Lung - Cold Storage

2 man Powerviolence. They have a ton of releases out, and
run a record label under the same name, and this is a CD
collection of a bunch of their split's, 7" 's and that kinda stuff.
And also to help any confusion, I have the Australian tour version
that came in a DVD case, but is just a CD. But this shit really rips!

Drunkdriver - Firesale 7"

Woot! My first non-cd rip! now that I know how to do this,
expect some definitely sweet shit! Anyway, Drunkdriver play
a super noisy, distorted, blown-out brand of punk, and I love it!
It's short, only having 2 songs, both with a drone-y trance
setting beat, especially the title track, which just progressively
get more and more intense as you listen to it. It definitely different,
but give it a try, and maybe it'll grow on you like it did me.

Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God

Melodic Death Metal with Norse Mythology and
Viking themes. This band is amazing, they're just so
heavy and precise. Plus, they've played a show
on a stage made to look like a Viking Ship..

The Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal

Melodic death metal. This cd is really damn awesome,
all the drumming is just insane, and Deathmask Divine is
probably one of the creepiest romance songs ever..

Amsvartner - The Trollish Mirror EP

I randomly bought this off of Amazon for less than
one dollar one say day, and I was quite pleasantly
surprised when I received it. Basically, this is a Black Metal
CD, but with much more accelerated musicianship, which is
impressive, seeing as how the musician's were averaging about
the age of 16 (I believe) when this was recorded back in 1996-97's
So yeah, it's good, and the first song always gets stuck in my head..

Mayhem - Live In Leipzig

This is probably one of the most infamous black metal cd's
of all time, solely because it features one of the most infamous
black metal vocalist's of all time, this being one of the very
few recordings featuring Dead on vocals before he blew his brains
out with a shotgun.... but that's another story, look it
up on Wikipedia or something. Anyway, this is a recording of
a live show Mayhem did in Leipzig, Germany circa 1990.
It's definitely very raw, but features a wonderful collection
of Mayhem's early (and best) songs.

Misery Index - Retailiate

Death metal/Grindcore. This band features some
ex-members of Dying Fetus, and rip's through these songs
in a similar ultra-fast and punishing way.

Gorgoroth - Twilight of the Idols (In Conspiracy with Satan)

This CD is just ridiculously awesome. It's so intense and
evil, especially the absolutely terrifying and insane (and often distorted)
vocals. This cd was written mostly by members of the band
other than Infernus, who is the usual composer, which definitely makes
it a tad bit different then most of their other music, but still as equally
great. You definitely want to hear this

Protestant - The Hate, The Hollow

Raging, Crusty Hardcore/Punk from Milwaukee, WI.
One of the best bands in the state right now, and their
guitarist always does really amazing artwork for the band, and
other bands related, like Northless.

Neurosis - Times of Grace

Heavy as fuck Sludge/Post-metal. One of the pioneers
of this style of music, and they do it beautifully. Also, I guess
if you play this cd at the exact same time as the Tribes of Neurot
cd released at the same time, they sync up, which is cool I guess,
if you can figure out how to do that....

Veil of Maya - All Things Set Aside

This is Veil of Maya's first CD, and it is their best by a long shot.
It's much rawer, and real sounding, and I liked this vocalist better,
and its actually a Death Metal cd, not the trend-y metal they're
playing now.

Altered State - Longinus demo

7 tracks of heavy, ripping Hardcore. These guys are
actually fairly original and refreshing in comparison to
a lot of modern hardcore bands, and according to
their Myspace they love juice, and juice is always cool.

Black metal with more of a classic Thrash-y style.
It's fast, raw, and even steps up the guitar work
from the usual black metal bands.

Immortal - Damned In Black

Immortal's been kickin' out the black metullzz for like
the past 20 years now, and I don't think there is anything
of there's that I don't enjoy. They go more for the fantasy aspect
VS the evil aspect, and I really like that. Kind of just makes the music
into some cool dreamscape, and that's one of my favorite things
about Black Metal..

Accident Jacket - 2 Songs

Accident Jacket was a devastating Hardcore/Metalcore
band from Appleton, WI in the early to mid 2000's. They
played at the first local show I ever went to, and actually used to
play in my town a lot for a little while. They were another huge
inspiration to me to be in a band, and play the music I did/do.
Their members have went on to be in a lot of different bands
all around Wisconsin, and elsewhere. These are two songs
from later on in their run as a band.

Savior For A Fallen Hero - S/T EP

Sludge-y, Metallic, Grinding Hardcore from Milwaukee. Since
they put this out they changed their name, and their
line-up. Nonetheless this is a really good EP, and probably
contains one of the longest held single note bass riff ever.

Super sick Black Metal from Milwaukee. They're a
concept band about a corporation that finds out it's more
profitable to kill they're employee's than fire them. Not to
mention they had one of the sickest drummers ever, Jon Engman.

Korova - Another Happy Customer

The singer of this band, Ian, emailed me this cd a few days
ago, and man am I glad that he did. These guys play noisy,
chaotic, thrashy, punky, hardcore that really just rips shit up.
Basically what I'm saying is it's awesome.

I really don't know what to classify this cd as. Kinda Screamy,
Post-Hardcore I guess. All I know is that if it wasn't for this
band, I probably wouldn't be as into music as I am. They were the first
band I went to go see locally, and I really think they meant more to
this town and my friends then they ever realized, and I like to
think that maybe The Nom did the same for some kids around
here as they did for me.
